What is it? One of the oldest Armenian churches in Batumi, known locally as Surb Prkich (Saint Saviour). Small but beautiful, with red brick walls and a peaceful yard. Who built it? Originally wooden (1879), built by Father Konstandin Ter-Stepanyan and the Armenian community. Rebuilt in brick (1895–1899) with support from donors like Alexander Mantashyants, a famous philanthropist. Who designed it? The final brick church was designed by Austrian architect Robert Marfeld. When it was finished Construction ended in 1899. Blessed in December 1900 by the Catholicos of All Armenians. Why in Batumi? Batumi was a multicultural trade hub. Armenians living here in the 19th century built the church for their Apostolic community. What happened later? Closed during Soviet times, used as warehouse and observatory. Returned to the Armenian community in 1992. Services resumed after renovations (1993–2000). Why visit? Peaceful atmosphere, cross-domed architecture, symbolic stained glass. The place has improved in every way: more seating both inside and outside. Views are better, the menu is expanded, and prices are reasonable. Location - Coffee corner on the corner of the building opposite the courthouse and next to TBC Bank’s central office (former railway station). Menu - Hot and cold coffee drinks (made with Swiss coffee), bubble tea, hot and cold chocolate, limoncello. Food - Small pastries available, and recently apple charlotte appeared on sale. Quality - My espresso was strong and pleasant in taste. The limoncello (made in Georgia) was surprisingly good, with a bright flavor and pleasant aftertaste. Seating - A couple of outdoor tables in the shade of trees. Recommendation - If you’re in that area, try both the coffee and the limoncello. Menu - Wide choice of coffee drinks, even options with alcohol if desired. Prices - My espresso was 5 GEL. Quality - Very good, balanced strength, not too bitter or sour. Recommendation - Worth trying, I recommend it. Локация - Небольшой кофейный стенд внутри DS Mall (вход со стороны ул. Джавахишвили). Посадка - Пара стульев для тех, кто хочет выпить кофе на месте. Cozy interior with many interesting details. Service: Excellent, surprisingly attentive and professional 👍 Prices: Very high compared to Batumi standards. My order: Seasonal berries – 16 GEL (strawberries were fine), Espresso – 7 GEL (good), Askaneli sparkling wine – 24 GEL (not impressive for the price). Bill: 47 GEL total. Honestly too much. Amedeo Restaurant – Batumi, 44 26 May St. Location: Very good spot, central and easy to reach. Atmosphere: Terrace was full of guests enjoying the warm weather, while inside the hall was almost empty. Service: Fast and attentive, staff acted with care. Food: Disappointing. Americano coffee was so bland I couldn’t finish it. The French omelette was dry (how is that even possible?), and the black bread served with it tasted old. Overall: This visit was a letdown. Maybe I’ll give it another chance someday, but for now - disappointment. Amedeo - Батуми, ул. 26 Мая 44Локация хорошая, легко найти. Терраса полна гостей, в зале пусто. Сервис быстрый, внимательный.
